Ezines for Promotional Marketing

Probably one of the most beneficial aspects of online marketing is that is often simply involves taking an old and traditional form of marketing and tweaks it to the electronics age. What makes this approach so beneficial is the fact that the overhead associated with the old method of doing things is generally eradicated and replaced with an extremely low cost alternative.

For example, have you ever opened you mailbox and received a promotional newsletter hawking a product? Did you ever look at the newsletter and discover that there was a store in your area that was offering a sale on the EXACT type of product that you were looking for? And, if you owned your own business, did you wish that there was a cost and time effective method in existence so that you could have your own newsletter produced? Well, thanks to the joys of the internet there is a cheaper and easier way of doing this and it comes in the form of ezines. For the uninitiated, ezines are simply new spins on the traditional newsletter formats of the past. Instead of being printed on paper and sent out in the mail, ezines are created as file documents are sent out as attachments to emails. This expands the volume that can be sent out by untold thousands while eliminating significant expense.

When comparing the costs associated with an ezine to a newsletter of the past the cost savings are significant as there is no need for printing, copying, typesetting and bulk mailing costs. Instead, the ezine is composed electronically and sent out with a click of a mouse. Yes, there will be costs associated in terms of software or hiring the help of a professional ezine company, but the costs will be much lower than the traditional method and, more importantly, the time required to get the proverbial ball rolling will be dramatically reduced.

Keep in mind, however, simply composing and sending out an ezine will not automatically translate into huge sales. For such an ezine herald to work effectively it should possess solid advertising and promotional copy. So, if you are not familiar with this style of writing it would be best to have the ezine composed and designed by professional marketers who have experience in this area. Sometimes it is best to leave certain work to the pros and the end results will make this effort worth it.

Looking at Affiliate Marketing

Online marketing and sales has grown at a rate that was far more expansive than even the most ardent analysts ever predicted. If there was one singular word that could adequately describe the reason for the incredible expansion it would be “inclusiveness.” That is, the realm of online marketing expands to virtually every website due to the multitude of variations of marketing available. In other words, there are even marketing opportunities available to websites that may not have the massive volume of traffic that some of the larger sites possess.

Probably the most popular of these methods of advertising is what is known as affiliate marketing.

In a nutshell, affiliate marketing refers to an internet version of consignment selling where the website collects a percentage of any sales that are made through an affiliate banner that is displayed the site. For example, let’s say you have a website dedicated to book reviews and you add an affiliate banner from Amazon.com or Borders. You provide a review to a book and then at the bottom of the review you have a click through button which will take the reader to a site that is selling the book.

If the person makes a purchase, you will collect a commission based on a percentage of the sales. If no sales occur, the bookseller is not obligated to pay any advertising fees. Of course, the interests of the website are protected in the sense that the website host can sell books without having any inventory!

This means that a person can become involved in online book sales (or music, DVD, clothing, electronics, etc) without any overhead operating costs. This allows for the affiliate buttons to expand through the totality of the internet at no cost to anyone. As such, affiliate marketing is wildly popular and has proven to be a reliable revenue stream.

Keep in mind that the potential ceiling for income derived from affiliate sales will be based upon traffic to the website. If there is very little traffic than it will be very difficult to make any decent sales so it goes without saying that boosting one’s traffic and search engine rankings would prove most helpful to increasing potential affiliate marketing revenue streams. Affiliate marketing is not a get rich quick scheme although there have been those who have promoted it as such. Instead, it can be a solid and reliable method of earning income provided that proper steps are taken to increase traffic to the website.
